There has been a lot of coverage on the AFP/Google content deal. However, both parties did not reveal much about the deal, which left lot’s of questions in the open.
This settlement is part of the content owners effort and actions to defend their copyright. Google is under attack by a number of players. The licencing deal seems more important as a step forward than the likely cash settlement over the dispute. Eric Scherer – Director of Strategic Planning and Partnerships at AFP, and preiously runnning AFP in the US is telling a little bit more about the deal, revealing that Google will launch a new product using AFP’s content. This licencing agreement will be different from the ones AFP already has with MSN and Yahoo. He is also explaining how AFP and Google have kept ongoing discussions over the past 2 years.
