How useful would you it be if your mobile could be used for payments, public transportation, selected services instead of carrying a dozen cards in your wallet! Guido Mangiagalli, in charge of contactless and mobile payments for VISA in Europe wants to build a comprehensive device, physical, remote and person to person: to use the mobile to pay face-to-face, to pay on the internet, to transfer payments. Visa is currently developing the O2 wallet in the UK, including the Oyster transport application, a barter Visa card for low value payments, a ticketing application and a VIP room access application. Of course, Visa will have to share revenues with other players in the value chain, but it will be seemless and without additional costs to the customer. In this interview, Guido details how Visa is building its mobile strategy in Europe.
