If you want to see one of the possible futures of photojournalism, check out MediaStorm. The company, self financed, founded by Brian Storm, operates like a production house. A few years back, while we were working together at Corbis, Brian already had this vision of combining photography, sound and text. I met him a few weeks ago, we sat, talked and he showed me some of the work they produced, just amazing and moving stories, bringing up emotions from deep inside.
One of these stories, Kingsley’s crossing, from Photojournalist Olivier Jobard, received an Emmy at the 28th Annual News & Documentary event :
the story of a 23-year-old lifeguard from the impoverished town of Limbe, Cameroon, dreams of a better life in Europe. He embarks on a harrowing journey that takes him halfway across Africa….Kingsley’s Crossing is the story of one man’s willingness to abandon everything—his family, his country, and his friends—in the hopes of finding a better life abroad.
Congratulations Olivier, Brian, Robert and the team.
